Oseloka H. Obaze reacts to Supreme Court Ousting of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State

Selonnes Consult MD/CEO, Mr Oseloka H. Obaze, a PDP stalwart and the 2017 governorship candidate has reacted to the Supreme Court ousting of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, in response to questions from the media.
Q: How would you like to react to the Supreme Court judgment of yesterday that removed Governor Ihedioha of PDP and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodimma of APC?

OHO: Courts deal with facts of matters before them. That, however, does not make judges on any court infallible. As a democratic nation that subscribes to the rule of law, we are duty bound to accept the rulings of the Supreme Court, as painful as it might be for those of us in PDP. Such vicissitudes undergird our democracy. I believe Gov. Emeka Ihedioha will emerge from this ordeal stronger.

Q: How, in your view would the judgment impact on democracy and the electoral process in the country

OHO: Naturally the ruling has caused a stir. However, we must not relent on the ongoing efforts to sanitize our electoral processes. Not signing the Electoral Reform Bill and shortcomings of INEC has foisted judicial supremacy on us in electoral matters. Courts arbitrating electoral outcomes should be on exceptional basis, and not as a matter of routine, which is now the case. When INEC begins to lift beyond its weight and curb the excesses of its operatives, the incessant resort to the courts will wane.
