Chiagozie Udeh, Selonnes Consult Research Associate underlines nexus between climate change and IDPs and insecurity in Nigeria.

Chiagozie Udeh the winner of the Cambridge Climate Lecture Series (CCLS) article competition 2018 and a climate change policy research associate at Selonnes Consult Ltd., has predicted that climate change will be a major decider for the 2019 general election in Nigeria regardless of whether Nigerians understand the situation to be so or not.
Mr Udeh in a video message ( https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1ig9AoFsS_hQcrF3WsyM9T6gh1a_SogYH)featured during the grand finale of the lecture series in Cambridge University insisted that the number of internally displaced persons in Nigeria (IDP) owing to climate change challenges is staggering and cannot be ignored, more so as it highlights the role of climate change as catalytic to Nigeria’s worst security threat in the last decade.

While thanking Climate Tracker and Cambridge University for the opportunity which earned him a Diploma in Climate communication and saw his winning piece published in top UK Ecology magazines,(https://theecologist.org/2018/feb/22/how-climate-change-provoking-clashes-between-herdsmen-and-farmers-nigeria), he also mentioned that more needs to be done in accurate climate reportage as that is grossly underreported in Nigeria and the the rest of the Global South.

Presently, the Selonnes Consult Research Associate is on a three-country visit to Doha, Monaco and Italy on the Plant-for-the-Planet Youth Summit 2018, and related activities between 3 and 10 March 2018.
