Oseloka H. Obaze join dignitaries to honour ace broadcaster  Nwora Asika on his 80th birthday

The immediate-past Secretary to Anambra State Government and a PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 18 November 2017 Anambra State elections, was among the many dignitaries that attended the 80th birthday ceremony for ace broadcaster, Mr Nwora Asika (Nnayelugo). Other dignitaries in attendance were Chief Chulo Asika, (Olodi Akpe) Engr. Eddy Bosah, ace Broadcaster Pal Akalonu, Rev. Fr. Prof. Mr. E. Ifeanyi, and Lady Maureen Nwokedi.

Obaze in his tribute to Mr Asika, recalled that “in post-civil war Nigeria, Igbo professional broadcasters, like Nwora Asika, Ikenna Ndaguba, Boniface Ofokaja, Pal Akalaonu were celebrities who influenced and subsequently mentored youths who flocked into broadcast journalism, with the hope of being like their role models.” He regretted that “government and society tended to forget such people once they were outside the lime light, and in so doing, undermined history and record of pioneers and such accomplished professionals.”
