Selonnes Policy Tidbits: | Trump’s Reinstatement Day and Big Lie Passes Unremarkably

Friday 13th is usually fraught with superstitions and imponderables. Friday 13 August, 2021 was exceptional; it had an additional macabre dimension. It was to be the endpoint that either validated on debunked forever, the Big Lie – Trump’s Reinstatement – as U.S. president.

The day came, passed slowly and expired with nothing happening. Now, hard-core QAnon followers, the gullible, the impressionable and those in denial know better. The Big Lie was exactly what it was, a fat Big Lie. Fake news at its very best in eliciting decit.

Across the globe, persons with greater ethereal challenges often paused or were inundated with analysis, most of it faux, of the U.S. Stolen presidential elections. The U.S. Talking Heads and QAnon conspiracy theorists need to come to Africa to discover the well-perfected methodologies for stealing elections. Some countries have gone beyond rigging, they do (s)elections with all the trappings of holding transparent and credible elections.

Now that it’s clear that the Big Lie has imploded, perhaps, the extreme right in the U.S. will stop foisting it’s bad habits on the rest of the world. A core tenet of democracy is holding genuine and periodic elections. When that happens, there  will always be winners and losers. Time to get real.
