Selonnes Policy  Tidbits: |  Nigeria Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution Controversy

Nigeria’s Covid-19 response regime has been fraught with controversy from the onset. Now the distribution plan and anticipated expenses are also mired in controversy. This is a result of lack of full disclosure. Nigerians were told the it would cost an estimated N400 billion to vaccinate Nigerians. How much of that amount is devoted to transportation? It is lack of transparency in vaccination administration regime, that triggered speculations that FGN had already budgeted N10.6 billion to transport COVID-19 vaccine to the 36 states, the 774 local government areas and Abuja FCT.

The explanation that Private sector-led Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID), had already undertaken to distribute the vaccines to states at no cost the government, seems like an afterthought. That information, if true, should have been in the public domain before now, and readily accessible.
