Buhari Doesn’t Understand Democracy Tenets – Tambuwal

AWKA – Governor Waziri Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said that Nigeria needs a leader who understands the tenets of democracy and who himself is a democrat by words and actions.

Tambuwal in Awka Tuesday night in continuation of his “engagement, discussion and appeal” to party members to support his ambition, also said Nigeria needs a leader who “will let bygones to be bygones and not punish people for exercising their franchise”.

He said because President Muhammadu Buhari did not understand these, he shut his door on many things that are worrying the people which they want to discuss.

Explaining to party supporters who filled Ngala Hall of De Geogold, Hotel Awka, venue of the meeting that he is not looking for a job. Tambuwal said his experience in Nigeria democracy in at least 20 years, his management of the House of Representatives and in the executive and being close to judiciary will bring something new to governance of Nigeria.

He said that if elected he will open discussion on many issues bothering the people based on the constitutional framework.

Among other things, he pledged to revive the economy, invest in education and create an enabling environment for peace and freedom of abode anywhere in the country.

In addition, Tambuwal said he would also rejig the security architecture of Nigeria by recruiting more security personnel and provide security of life and property in the country.

As for Anambra State, he pledged to support government in tackling the erosion menace ravaging the state.

Tambuwal added: “I am not looking for job. I could have remained as governor and contest for a second term and am sure I will win 60 to 70 votes cast. Nigeria can be great again.”

In response to the speech the governorship candidate of PDP in last year’s election, Oseloka Obaze, asked Tambuwal and other aspirants to concede Vice Presidential slot to Anambra State.
