Anambra Poll: Ekweremadu Endorses Obaze

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has endorsed Chief Oseloka Obaze, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, insisting that he remained the best material to take the state to the next level.
Ekweremadu, who spoke while presenting him to the people of Enugu State during the annual scholarship and bursary award ceremony of his non governmental organisation (NGO), Ikeoha Foundation, at Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, at the weekend, described Obaze as the “incoming governor of Anambra state”, and assured him that all Enugu indigenes living in Anambra state would give him their support.

He however reminded Obaze that the public presentation was an understanding which implies that he should remember to appoint three Enugu indigenes as cabinet members when he takes over as the governor of Anambra state.

Obaze, who presented a cheque of an undisclosed amount of money in support of the activities of the Foundation, said Enugu and

Anambra, as well as other South East states are brothers and therefore should be interested and supportive of any development programmes going on in the various states.

He commended the brotherly and mature relationship between Enugu state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Senator Ekweremadu, such must be emulated by other political leaders in the zone.

The Deputy Senate President had earlier presented the sum of N38.5 million as scholarship and bursary allowances to 418 under graduates selected from the 17 local government areas of Enugu state.

Ekweremadu stated that he rose to eminent position in the society today where he could raise his head high and compete with any person anywhere in the world because of education.

He said that his decision to embark on the triple programme of free adult literacy, scholarship, and bursary awards was a personal decision and God’s anointing to give back to society through Ikeoha Foundation.

“I believe I wouldn’t have gotten to where I’m today without ducation. Education has liberated me to the extent that I can stand tall with any Whitman without being intimidated. That is why I’m investing in on people and doing what I’m doing.

“For some people their parents had to sell lands in other to for them to go to school but now there is help. One day I will be tired of Ikeoha Foundation and I hope one of these people will take up the Foundation,” Ekweremadu said.
