The foremost candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze has decried the ugly incidents involving officials of the Nigerian Arm and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB].

The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] flag bearer expressed his anger in a tweet on his handle, saying:

“Re Abia skirmishes and curfew, we sue for peace and nonviolence. Peaceful assembly remains an ordered Liberty.

“There’s need to avoid use of the military for civilian policing.”

Soldiers had, on Tuesday, engaged civilian protesters in some fits of violence including the invasion of the country home of IPOB leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu.

The invasion resulted in the death of at least three persons with several others wounded.

In another development, Mr. Oseloka Obaze pledged to fix Anambra State which has been battered and broken through years of neglect and abandonment under the administration of Governor Willie Obiano.

He listed several projects which were abandoned by Governor Obiano and needing urgent attention termed “Pressing Needs Of Various Communities In Anambra State” as compiled by The Voters Voice.

Meanwhile, as the deadline for completing the filing the candidacy of the PDP governorship and deputy governorship candidate draws near, informed sources within the Oseloka H. Obaze campaign team have confirmed that the candidate has been availed a shortlist, which includes five men and two women, all drawn from South and Central senatorial districts.

All the deputy-governorship pre-designates are Anglican and reportedly have the support of the Anglican Church hierarchy. Most are core PDP member.

Mr. Obaze won the 28 August 2017 governorship primary, which was nationally televised and was awarded the certificate thereafter by Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.

The source also confirmed that Mr. Obaze, the PDP candidate’s name was forwarded to the INEC on 7 September 2017.

Some of the PDP aspirants whom the party hierarchy and Mr Obaze have engaged in reconciliation talks, have exercised their democratic right to file petitions on their respective grievances.

The latest conciliation effort on 11 September 2017, was chaired by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.
