How I’ll transform Anamabra, by Obaze

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 18 Anambra State governorship election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has said that he would herald an era of self-sufficiency and affluence in the state if elected into office.
At a media interaction in Abuja, Obaze identified ingenuity and creativity on the path of government as necessary ingredients for economic development and the well-being of the populace.

Obaze who won PDP primaries on Monday, August 28, 2017, urged the national leadership of the party to quickly bring all the aspirants who vied for the ticket together to ensure victory in the election.

He said that he had personally begun to reach out to the aspirants.

On his leadership style, Obaze said that he would bring ingenuity to bear on governance in Anamabra in order to ensure that the people’s needs are met in spite of the current economic hardship in the land.

Obaze said that he would give priority to agriculture, education, security, employment, and youth empowerment, among others, adding that he would also improve on the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state without belabouring the people.

The governor-to-be said that no individual, business enterprise or corporation will be burdened with double taxation or excessive taxation and further promised to expand opportunities for wealth creation.

He said if elected, his era would be characterised by the creation of a better business environment to increase production through the provision of alternative energy, good roads and a well-secured state.

Obaze polled 672 votes to defeat Chief Alex Obiogbolu, who scored 190 votes to come second and Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah with 94 votes, for third place, in the party primaries held at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

Four other aspirants including Chief John Emeka, Afodike Akaolisa, Senator Stella Oduah and Ms Linda Ikpeazu withdrew from the race over allegations of irregularities in the list of delegates.

Obaze served as Secretary to State Government (SSG) between June 12, 2012 and June 8, 2015 under former Governor Peter Obi, whose tenure ended on May 29, 2015, and briefly with incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano.
