PDP sets to displace APGA in Anambra.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced serious move to unseat the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State.
Party stakeholders yesterday held two different meetings at PDP national secretariat, Abuja, where ‎the issue was discussed extensively and decisions reached.

‎PDP ex-governors were the first to meet with the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee (NCC), followed by the Anambra State stakeholders.

Speaking with journalists at the end of the two separate meetings, former governor of the state, Peter Obi said the ex-governors’ meeting discussed how the party could be effective in order to win future elections.

“Another one was the issue of Anambra State governorship election. How we can mobilise and be effective,” he said.

Similarly, a governorship aspirant from the state, Dr. Obiogbola Alex, said the meeting was held at the instance of the NCC to discuss issues regarding the election.

“We all agreed to work together. We have had crisis in Anambra PDP but the meeting of today was without rancour like in the past. All stakeholders were here. The party reiterated its determination to win the election,” he said.

Another aspirant, Dr. Oseloka ‎Obaze, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG) said the meeting delegated three persons from each of the three senatorial zones in the state to work with the NCC in order for the PDP to coast home to victory.

“Our chances are bright because “there is no more internal dissensions like in the past,” he said.

Speaking during the opening session before the closed-door meeting, the secretary of the caretaker committee, Senator Ben Obi said the election will be a test case for the PDP.

“This is just one of the events ‎in preparation for the governorship election in Anambra State,” he said.

Former governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger State), Idris Wada (Kogi), Achike Udenwa (Imo), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Theodore Orji (Abia), Gbenga Daniel (Ogun), Peter Obi (Anambra) were among many others who attended the ex-governors’ meeting.

In a statement late evening, the spokesman of the caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said,” the NCC in exercise of its powers under Section 31, (2)(E) today ‎dissolved all the existing factional Executive Committees of the party ‎in Anambra State.

“The NCC will in due course, appoint a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the PDP in the state pending when it will be auspicious to ‎elect executive committees at all levels.”
