Anambra 2017: Go and fish for new members, PDP State Chairman charges ward executives

By Pamela Eboh,  Awka on 26/07/2017

The Anambra State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Ken Emeakayi, has called on ward Chairmen in the 326 wards in the state to embark on door-to-door campaign to get new members into the party.

Emeakayi who spoke at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Awka on Monday, said that though the party derailed in the past out of selfish interest and greed on the part of the party’s leaders and stakeholders, that it has returned as a unified, stronger unit to take back what belongs to them.

He noted that PDP lost elections in the past because of betrayal on the part of the party members adding that the party has moved on from the days of locust to reclaim the lead position as the largest party in Africa.

“We say enough is enough. In this election, PDP will produce the next Governor of Anambra State. PDP went through crisis and that helped us to restructure, reposition and rebuild the party to help us take back the leadership of the state.

“Our people are in APGA, APC and UPP. Go and bring them back. I commission you as fishers of men. Youths go and fish for the youths,” he said.

He announced a cash price of N1 million for any ward executive that records the highest number of new voters in their ward while the second and third ward will go home with N500,000 and N300,000 respectively.

While hailing the duo of Sen. Ben Obi, the National Secretary of the party, and Sen. Ahmed Markafi for watering the ground for the party’s return through their recent victory in court, Emeakayi urged the party faithful to eschew the attitude of romancing two different parties at the same time and dedicate their effort towards making PDP great again.

The Chairman announced August 8 and 10 for the party’s congress in the 326 wards in the state, adding that the delegates who emerge from the congress election will serve as state delegates to the national convention.

Speaking at the occasion, a governorship aspirant of party for the November 18 election in the state, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, called on party members who abandoned the party to return and join in building a formidable party.

Also Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, another governorship aspirant on the party’s platform said that PDP has come back stronger adding that their goal is to chase APGA out of the seat of power.
