The cause of Albinos worldwide must become our cause more so, as we have escaped their fate – Obaze

OHO Press Release: 17/20; 13 June 2017Statement Attributable to Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, “Ambassador Against Discrimination On Persons With Albinism” on the 2017 International Albinism Awareness Day.

Today which marks International Albinism Awareness Day, we recall that on 18 December 2014, the United National General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming, with effect from 2015, 13 June as International Albinism Awareness Day.
As we commemorate this day, let us reawaken our consciousness that those on whom fate has thrust albinism, are entitled to equal rights and human dignity free of any form of discrimination. Yet we know that persons with albinism are vulnerable and indeed, face multiple forms of discrimination worldwide.

Hence, we owe it to ourselves and our humanity to demythologize and demystify existing myths on albimism. The cause of Albinos worldwide must become our cause more so, as we have escaped their fate.
