Anaocha Unity Forum on Tuesday, adopted Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze (OHO), as their preferred governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election.

The body comprising of Emeakayi led faction of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Oguebego led PDP faction, members of other political parties, past and current PGs of the towns that make up the Anaocha Local Government Area

In his welcome address, at the event which was held at Adazi Nnukwu Townhall, Adazi Nnukwu, the Chairman of the Group Hon. Leonard Ebere Ejiofor said Oseloka H. Obaze proved himself to be a dutiful and faithful servant during his time as the Secretary to the Anambra State Government. He said Obaze contributed in part to the success of Peter Obi’s administration and is suitably qualified to lead the state to prosperity.

Obaze who was visibly overwhelmed by the amount of support he has been receiving since he made known his interest to run for office, thanked the group and reminded them that campaign has not started and as such their actions guided. He assured them of his willingness and preparedness to restore Anambra State to the trajectory of progress laid by Former Governor Peter Obi but was unfortunately jettisoned by the present administration.

Obaze applauded the zoning formula and said Anambra North should be allowed complete its term. He said, the haste to truncate the arrangement is understandable because of the poor performance of the incumbent but however pleaded that equity demands that he be replaced with someone from Anambra North so that the zone can complete its mandate. He pledged that he will step aside after serving only one term so that other zones will have a go at their turn.
Obaze said he will revive Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS) which developed all parts of the state simultaneously. He also said his administration will focus on people oriented projects and in so doing run a participatory budget system.

Obaze decried the treatment of Local Government Administration with contempt by the present administration, saying that action distanced the government from the governed. He promised to conduct Local Government elections across the state within the first six months of his administration, if elected.
